1. The headline must contain the benefits that your company offers. 2. The benefits must be specific and immediate. 3. The headline must capture the readers' attention 4. 1. Offer Something for Free.
This could be a free report, a free trial of your services, a free consultation, or a free sample of your product. Headlines that offer something for free generate more responses than any other headline. "Free Report! The 10 biggest marketing mistakes businesses make."
2. Ask a Question.
Headlines that ask a question create curiosity. Identify a problem and imply that you have a solution. It's human nature to find the answer. "Is your Web site optimized for the major search engines? Click here to find out!"
3. Start Your Headline with "How to."
This is similar to asking a question except you're telling the readers you have the answer instead of implying. The question is formed in the readers' minds. "How to get five times as many responses to your ads."
4. Use a Testimonial.
Just about every television commercial uses some kind of testimonial. "I lost ten pounds on the Slim Fast program and I feel great." This technique works just as well for headlines. People feel more comfortable if they know it worked for someone else. "Ever since I signed up with Submit Pro, my hits and my business inquiries have multiplied by at least 4 times."
5. Give a Command.
Turn your most important benefit into a commanding headline. "Use a proven system that's guaranteed to get results." Also, studies show that the command "Click here" increases response rates. "Click here for a 500% increase in traffic to your Web site!"
6. Announce Something New.
This works well for a change in your company or the introduction of a new product. "Submit Pro! Introduces New Real-time Submission Tools."
7. Create Urgency.
If you don't get your prospects to act now, you may never get the sale. A special offer that has a deadline will encourage people to respond when their interest is highest. "Right Now You Can Buy a Submit Pro! Membership at 50% Off The Regular Price! Promotion ends Friday. Act Now!" Some Pointers
1. Be specific when you talk about benefits.
"Get a 500% better response to your ads..." is more specific than "Get better results with...."
2. Use powerful action words in your headlines.
